We had a record turnout of Michigan clubs in the Club Competition this year, with 21 Michigan Clubs (not including MRRC) participating.  The previous high was 17 clubs in 2007, and 16 clubs four other times, including the past three years.   It was great to see the clubs turn out in 2015, as club participation is a high priority for the MiQP Organizing Committee.

Learning from their second place finish in 2014, the Blossomland Amateur Radio Association, rallied their membership to put 16 stations on the air (up from eight in 2014) and amassed 333,085 points to win the Michigan Club Competition this year.  Led by their "big gun" (Earl, N8SS, the #2 single-op low power station), their 15 other entries averaged slightly over 13K each to beat their 2014 score by almost 100K and put their club into the top spot by almost 50K points.  Also, it should be noted that several of the "Cabinet Counties" are located in their membership area, so perhaps interest in the award helped to get so many Blossomland stations on the air.

In second place is last year's third place club, the Ogemaw-Arenac Amateur Radio Society, with 284,884 points.  OAARS was another club whose membership stepped up to support the club score with 12 entries (up from only four in 2014).  They also had a "big gun" (Steve, K8BZ the winning single-op high power station),  but their eleven other entries (including three rookies) averaged over 10K each to help OAARS also beat their 2014 score by almost 100K which was enough to grab the second spot.  They are also becoming very consistent in their finishes - ending up second, third and second over the past three years.

The third place club, the Oakland County Amateur Radio Society is a familiar name in the MiQP club ranks, but they didn't even have a club score in 2014.  This year, they managed to get four of their members on the air to amass 196,393 points to grab third place among Michigan clubs.  OCARS was led by two "big guns"; (Tom, K8BKM the third place single-op low power station and top Rookie Michigan single-op, and Tim, K8NWD the #2 single-op QRP station).

Out-of-state club scores were up significantly from 2014.  It is also interesting to note that all of the top three out-of-state clubs are different from last year.

High score among out-of-state clubs in 2015 belongs to the Minnesota Wireless Association, a familiar name in MiQP club competitions.  MWA had only two scores, but they made them count; the #6 eastern region single-op score from NIJ, operating his remote station in WI from his home in MN, and the #11 eastern region single-op score by NXT for a total of 33,236 points, almost triple the winning out-of-state club score from 2014.

In second place was a name less familiar to MiQP out-of-state scores box, Contest Club Ontario the sponsors of the Ontario QSO Party that shares the weekend with MiQP.  CCO amassed 25,968 points, again about triple that of the second place out-of-state club score from 2014.  They were led by the #5 eastern region single-op score by VE3WG, along with three other scores.

Following behind CCO in third place in the Out-Of-State Club leaders box was another very familiar name in MiQP club competitions, the Society of Midwest Contesters with 15,245 points.  Although SoMC didn't have any of the leading scores among their ranks, they made up for it in volume with a total of eight entries, and finished in third place with a score that was more than four times that of their 2014 counterpart.
